Writing about Quality of Life
Caregivers spend valuable time documenting and writing
about their interactions with the Individuals they serve. Choosing
which words to use is very important to the overall meaning of what is
written. This can be a challenging task, especially when dealing
with difficult behaviors or situations. Therefore, it is important
to focus on the positive aspects of a person’s day, while at the same
time, constructively noting improvements that can be worked on in that
person’s quality of life.
Caregivers document their daily activities with the
Individuals they serve on the Daily Quality of Life Sheet. To learn
about this process, view the Daily QoL Guide (Student
Manual; Teacher
Manual). For more information, see the Writing about
Quality of Life Guide (Student
Manual; Teacher
Manual), which explains how to write about the events that took place while caregiving.
Also view the Word Choice Guide (Student
Manual; Teacher
Manual), which helps a caregiver practice
writing narratives using specific quality of life words. Finally,
view the list of Quality of Life words
that can be helpful when writing narratives. |
