Reclaiming
the Power of the Heart
In order to measure our progress toward
an Individual's goals, Globe Star uses a quality-assurance assessment
called "Reclaiming the Power of the Heart." This phrase
expresses our aim of empowering each Individual by improving his/her
quality of life with help. In the assessment, there are four
"chambers" that equally balance a person's quality of
life. They are:

The first chamber looks at the
Individual's satisfaction with his/her life and services. This allows the
Individual to express how he/she feels about areas such
as personal goals, relationships, and rights. The second chamber looks at
the physical, verbal, and gestural signs of reciprocation that the
Individual shows when interacting with his/her caregivers, such as
responding to a caregiver's words or demonstrating one's
self-esteem. The third chamber looks at the caregiver's interaction
of teaching companionship and community, such as being an attentive listener and focusing on creating new memories
with the person. The last chamber looks at the outcomes of the
services provided in areas such as well-being, self-determination, and social
inclusion.
